Yankeeland by Lacy Fewer Wins Multiple Literary Awards

Yankeeland by Lacy Fewer has been awarded the BREW Seal of Excellence, the Spotlyts Story Award, and the Global Spines Book Award. The novel has also been shortlisted for the monthly and annual BREW Readers’ Choice Award.

The BREW Seal of Excellence is awarded to books that demonstrate outstanding literary quality and cultural significance. Yankeeland was recognised for its historical depth and its portrayal of personal and societal struggles. In its review, The Chrysalis BREW Project stated: “Few books manage to capture the pulse of history while making it feel deeply, achingly personal. Yankeeland does so effortlessly. It is not just a novel—it is an experience, a testament to the quiet revolutions waged by those history often forgets.”

The Spotlyts Story Award is given to works that uncover important narratives. The award panel noted that Yankeeland “forces us to reconsider the past we think we know. But within its grand, collective arc are the individual stories, the personal reckonings that shift and shape identities across generations.”

The Global Spines Book Award recognises books that resonate across cultures. In its statement, the Global Spines team highlighted how Yankeeland “does not demand our attention—it earns it. Brigid Kelly’s journey from Ireland to America is not just a migration; it is an unraveling. She believes in the promises of a new world but finds herself bound by the same old ghosts, the same unspoken rules.”

Lacy Fewer is an author from Dublin, Ireland. A graduate of University College Dublin, she worked in banking and finance before turning to writing. Yankeeland was inspired by her grandaunt’s letters and explores themes of immigration, family, and personal struggle. She lives in Meath with her family.
