Baku, Azerbaijan, 29th Jan 2025 - The International Science and Technology University (ISTU), renowned as the world's first university dedicated to students with disabilities, has taken a groundbreaking step in advancing educational accessibility. Staying true to its mission of promoting inclusivity, ISTU continues to pioneer initiatives supporting disadvantaged groups worldwide.
A high-level delegation led by ISTU Rector Prof. Dr. Erdal Dursun, along with Rector's Advisor and International Office Director Lecturer Bakhtiyar Najafov, recently visited the Autism Center in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The visit was initiated at the invitation of Dr. Aytan Eynalova, founder and president of the "Together and Healthy" Public Union, and her esteemed team.
During the visit, ISTU representatives received an in-depth briefing on the Autism Center's professional practices. The delegation also conducted thorough observations of the center’s operational areas to understand its methodologies and challenges. As a result, both parties reached a mutual agreement to collaborate in offering fully funded educational opportunities at ISTU for individuals with disabilities.
This partnership marks a major milestone in ISTU’s mission to provide inclusive and equitable education. By offering such opportunities, the university is reaffirming its dedication to fostering an environment where every individual can achieve their potential, regardless of physical or social barriers.
“This collaboration demonstrates the power of shared vision and international cooperation in addressing the needs of marginalized communities,” said Prof. Dr. Erdal Dursun. “Together, we can create a world where education is truly accessible to all.”
The initiative further cements ISTU’s role as a global leader in promoting inclusivity through education and strengthens the bonds between ISTU and Azerbaijan. It also sets a powerful example of how institutions can work together to build a more equitable future.
This partnership has already attracted significant international attention and is poised to inspire similar efforts worldwide. By championing inclusivity and equal opportunity, ISTU continues to lead the charge in transforming educational landscapes and empowering underrepresented communities.
